life beyond the well…

there is always much to be said

in walking with christ, and through fellowship with other believers, i have discovered that there has ALWAYS been much to be said about people who have given their life to christ; particularly about how they were before. these people, myself included, are often criticized and are continually reminded of their faults. to that, there isn’t much to say; but to my fellow believers out there, be encouraged. below, i have included some things that encourage me when people allow the devil to use them:

When I say…”I am a Christian”, I’m not shouting “I’m clean livin”;
I’m whispering “I was lost”, “Now I’m found and forgiven”.

When I say…”I’m a Christian”, I’m not claiming to be perfect;
My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I’m worth it.

When I say…”I’m a Christian”, I don’t speak of this with pride.
I’m confessing that I stumble, and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say…”I’m a Christian”, I still feel the sting of pain;
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say…”I’m a Christian”, I’m not trying to be strong;
I’m professing that I’m weak, and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say…”I’m a Christian”, I’m not holier than thou;
I’m just a simple sinner who received God’s grace somehow.

When I say…”I’m a Christian”, I’m not bragging of success.
I’m admitting I have failed, and need God to clean my mess.

“these things i have spoken unto you, that in me, ye might have peace. in the world, ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; i have overcome the world.” ~john 16:33

“therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” ~2 corinthians 5:17

“this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. there is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” ~romans 3:22-24

“consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” ~james 1:2-4

bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse…do not repay anyone evil for evil. be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.” ~romans 12:14, 17

“i urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. keep away from them. for such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.” ~romans 16:17-18

and there you have it…there will always be something to say, but i’m certain that the Lord will take care of that. it’s a new year, and God is doing a new thing…so when the devil reminds you of your past, just remind him of his future. be encouraged all!

  1. I really like the attitude of all these statements. It’s about allowing the Lord, isn’t it? I’ve been enormously helped by the messages from the Holy Spirit on The Holy Inheritance blog. If we get ourselves out of the way, our sense of personal importance, the miracles start multiplying.
