As a North Carolina native, I grew up watching The Andy Griffith Show. While it’s not one of my favorite shows, I definitely got a good laugh out of it; and it was cool to watch people on television talk about places I knew about in my home state or had visited.
Apparently North Carolinians aren’t the only ones to truly appreciate this show. This article on CNN.com, discusses a married couple who have made their home into a bed and breakfast that is an exact replica of Andy Taylor’s home on the show. The couple met in a chat room about the show.
As a guest at the bed and breakfast, you have the option of staying in Andy’s room, Opie’s room, or Aunt Bee’s room. Perhaps the only thing about this bed and breakfast that isn’t a true representation of the show is its’ location–it’s located in Clear Lake, Wisconsin.
I’ll be honest and say that I never considered traveling to Wisconsin for any reason other than graduate school at UW-Madison or a Green Bay Packers football game. However, my discover of this little bed and breakfast that provides a snippett of North Carolina history may have changed my mind. Any one care to join me?

Wisconsin is too cold, Erin. And the North Carolina experience is not complete without North Carolina cuisine and I doubt Wisconsin can mimic it.
But I would LOVE to stay in Dwayne and Ron’s apartment from A Different World and I’ve wondered what Cliff and Claire’s bathroom has looked like my whole life.

Yea Wisconsin is just too cold and too “midwest” for me. I don’t know if I could handle it.
Thought it would be cool to go a Packers game or a game at Camp Randall Stadium.

I ain’t really watch Andy Griffith like that. I was all on Matlock, though.

Y’all are right- it is REALLY cold there, and I would be MISERABLE. Oh well, I’ll find another vacation spot. Besides- without NC BBQ, I’d be heartbroken.
But yeah- I have been dying to see Cliff and Claire’s bathroom. I always liked Stephanie and Michelle’s room on Full House. I think it was the window seat that got me.

LOL- Gene you are foolish. Glad the bay window/window seat could do that for you.
One of my good friends from like FOREVER had a huge bay window/window seat in her bedroom- like we used it as a makeshift bed for sleepovers in 8th grade because it was SO BIG…and it was cushioned and you could really fit a couple of people there. Man the memories…

I guess I’m just mad curious like that and bay windows allow me to see as much of everything as possible. My first apartment in Phoenix had one. Plus if the sun is shining, they let more light in the room, which means I can turn off the main light, which means a lower light bill. (That’s the grown man in me talking.)
