this MUST be a joke…

Okay, so I know that Georgia isn’t the most progressive state; however, there are some things going on here that I find to be RIDICULOUS.

According to this article on MSNBC.com, some Georgia lawmakers signed off on a plan to create a Confederate Heritage Month. Under this plan, the month of April would be designated as Confederate History and Heritage Month in an attempt to honor the memory of the Confederacy as well as “all those millions of its citizens of various races and ethnic groups and religions who contributed in sundry and myriad ways to the cause of Southern Independence.”

Oh really? The cause of Southern Independence? Sounds like a ridiculous amount of BS to me. Especially when you think about how Georgia lawmakers didn’t seem to excited or willing to issue an apology for slavery.

Here’s a nice editorial about the situation, one that definitely sums up my feelings about it…courtesy of the AJC.

  1. white people need shine too…

  2. they have shine…the fact that they have the power to propose something as ridiculous as this is evidence that they have shine…

  3. But why it got to be during my birthday month? And why is the wording so vague? It needs to say to honor all those who fought to keep slavery in place? Let’s keep it real.

  4. LOL…i guess they figured they were trying to get you, Gene. but seriously…there’s not a good month for this at all, and i don’t think i can be persuaded otherwise.
